Major General Sanjeewa Fernando assumed office as the 28th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 53 Division in Dambulla on Thursday (28) under the 1 Corps of the Army, headquartered in Kilinochchi.
The newly-appointed Major General Sanjeewa Fernando signed an official document inside his new office and signified the formal acceptance of the new Office amid religious blessings.
Few Senior Officers including Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Staff Officers of the Division attended the occasion.
He succeeded Major General Nishantha Manage who has now been appointed as Commander ARTRAC.
