53 Division Introduces Maiden Air Rifle Club

53 Infantry Division troops of the 1 Corps, located at Inamaluwa launched the first-ever Air Rifle Shooting Club in the area and a children’s park for the betterment of the locals on Tuesday (May 30) in the presence of Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU).

Both projects were initiated according to a concept of Major General P.G.P.S Ratnayake RWP RSP ndc, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 53 Infantry Division as a civil-military co-operation project that benefit locals residing in Habarana, Diganpathaha and Inamaluwa areas. A portion of the financial support required for the children’s park was provided by a philanthropist through the coordination of the GOC of the 53 Infantry Division.

Furthermore, 90 kids at Kid’s World Pre School at Diganpathaha with their teachers arrived for the inauguration of the children’s park and the President of ASVU distributed chocolates and fruit drinks to them. In addition, 53 Infantry Division troops provided delicious snacks and tea to those children.

The GOC of the 53 Infantry Division, Mrs Nimali Ratnayake, Chairperson Commando Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch, Senior Offices, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in the event.
