Troops of the 53 Division celebrated their 21st anniversary with a series of events on 08 August at Dambulla on the directions of Major General, Shavendra Silva, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 53 Division.
A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour were accorded by the troops of 20 Gajaba Regiment (GR) to the GOC, 53 Division on Monday (08) at the Divisional parade grounds at Dambulla as a military formality.
Thereafter, ‘Rath Sadun’ tree saplings were planted in the 53 Division camp premises, as a part of the programme.
On the same day, a troop address followed by distribution of service appraisal certificates took place in a ceremony in the Divisional Headquarters.
An All Rank lunch was also held to mark the Anniversary Day at the newly-constructed Corporals’ Club and Privates’ Mess areas.
The 21st anniversary ceremonies concluded with a grand musical show in the 53 Division premises the same evening.
