522 Infantry Brigade troops of the 52 Infantry Division lent their assistance for conduct of the final special service at St. Mary's Church, located at Kadaikadu on Sunday (19 Nov), bringing the month-long service schedule to an end.
Archbishop of Jaffna, Rev Justin Bernard Gnanaprakashan headed the special service and Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding, 52 Infantry Division, Brigadier K.A.D.C.R Kannangara RSP, Commander of 522 Infantry Brigade, Major P.R Atapattu USP, Commanding Officer of 1 Mechanized Infantry Regiment (1 MIR), Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and a crowd of more than 2500 devotees were invited to the special mass.
Around the same time, 1 MIR troops of the 522 Infantry Brigade planted 45 coconut saplings inside the church compound and provided breakfast to all members of the clergy attending special mass.
