The 522 Brigade in Kodikamam marked its 25th anniversary with several community-oriented projects and military formalities.
Prior to the anniversary day, troops offered lunch to the Mirusuvil children’s home and alms to monks at Nawakkuliya Sumana Vihara. Afterwards, troops conducted a Shramadana programme at Kodikamam Hospital and cleaned up wards and the premises to coincide with their anniversary.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier Janaka Wijesiri was offered a Guard Turnout on the anniversary day (20) and saluted him. A symbolic tree planting programme followed and all ranks sat together for all rank lunch.
In addition, more than 30 troops donated their blood to the Blood Transfusion Bank at Jaffna Teaching Hospital on account of the anniversary.
