Following sponsorship provided to the Army by one Mr. Rajikaran Shammugarathnam, troops of the 521 Infantry Brigade of the 52 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force HQ - Jaffna with the intention of easing economic burden of 50 needy families and 50 students in Udduppiddi area distributed dry ration packs and school accessories respectively after inviting all of them to the Udduppiddi Girls’ College on Friday (7).
Each relief pack was worth Rs. 5,000/= and the gesture was meant to strengthen the civil-military cooperation in the Jaffna peninsula. 521 Infantry Brigade coordinated the donation through Mr. Rajikaran Shammugarathnam. Colonel M.H.R Fernando RWP RSP USP, Commander, 521 Infantry Brigade provided necessary guidance for the arrangements for distribution.
General Officer Commanding, 52 Infantry Division, Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and distributed those relief packs.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks, school staff and parents participated in the event.
