To enhance religious harmony and civil - military cooperation among civilians living in Point Pedro area, troops of the 521 Infantry Brigade, together with 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops staged a colourful Christmas Carol programme in the Methodist Girls High School auditorium on Thursday (21 Dec).
The event was conducted under the guidance of the Commander 521 Infantry Brigade and the General Officer Commanding of the 52 Infantry Division attended the event as the Chief Guest whilst the Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese, Rt Rev Dr. P.J Jebarathnam graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
The performances and Carols were presented by the school children from Methodist Girls' High School, Methodist Boys' School, Students of St Methodist Church and St Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Point Pedro.
The Special performances and prayers were delivered by Father Micheal Saundranayagam and Sisters of the Church. The Christmas Message was also delivered by the Vicar General, to highlight the value of Christmas. The event ended with refreshments and dinner for all the participants. Senior Officers, Officers, many distinguished invitees and over 400 civilians witnessed the colourful event.
