52 Infantry Division Troops Put up Pre-school for Navatkuli Kids

Major General Swarna Bothota, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna (SF- J) during his first visit to the hamlet, Navatkuli in Jaffna inaugurated the ‘Lakdaru' Pre-school project for the benefit of kids in this village where a Sinhala community has been peacefully living with the Northern Tamil community.

Commander, SF - J, together with Major General Sanjeewa Fernando, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 52 Infantry Division, provided much-needed guidance to the success of the project. All the arrangements for this community project were coordinated under the close supervision of Colonel Subash Siriwardana, Commander, 523 Infantry Brigade and Lieutenant Colonel E.D.M Jayakantha, Civil Affairs Officer, 52 Infantry Division.

Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) at Army Headquarters, provided 16 packs of essential school accessories, each worth Rs 5000.00, for all kids enrolling to the new 'Lakdaru' Pre-school, following a request to that effect was made by Mrs Harshani Bothota, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps - Seva Vanitha Branch.

The lighting of the traditional oil lamp and cutting of the ribbon inaugurated the functional aspect of the pre-school as the auspicious minute struck on Thursday, (Jan 26). Commander, SF - J attended the occasion as the Chief Guest and distributed school accessories to the children with the GOC, 52 Infantry Division.
