Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment assumed duties as the 29th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 52 Infantry Division at the Division Headquarters in Mirusuvil on Thursday (08 June 2023).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 52 Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and saluted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance before he was invited to receive the salute of the Guard of Honour, presented by Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops.
In his new office, the incoming GOC was invited to sign an official document to mark the assumption of his duties amidst ‘Seth Pirith’ chanting.
Afterwards, the new GOC in line with military traditions, addressed all Officers and Other Ranks where he expressed his vision for the Division in the future.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 22 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the day’s event.
