Troops of the 52 Division on the directions of Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division considering helpless plight of poor civilians in the area took an own initiative and gave away dry ration packs to 50 selected underprivileged families residing in Mirusuvil, Vidaththapalai, Kodikamam and Vallai areas on Sunday (17) in Jaffna on account of the just celebrated Army Day.
Each dry ration packet, worth about Rs. 3000/= included rice, dhal, sugar, milk powder, salt, tea leaves, onions, etc, was sponsored by own troops of the 521 Brigade and the 52 Division HQ as part of their assistance to the community living around their formations.
Brigade Commander of the 521 Brigade, Commanding Officers of under command battalions, Senior Officers and troops joined the distribution programme adhering to health guidelines.
