Tapping untapped artistic talents of hundreds of troops, serving the 52 Division in the Jaffna peninsula, a mega dancing contest, coloured by soldiers and woman soldiers went on the boards recently at 52 Division Headquarters auditorium.
13 dancing groups representing 52 Division Headquarters, 521 Brigade, 522 Brigade, 523 Brigade and field formations under the 52 Division contested in the mega spectacle which saw its birth as a concept of Brigadier W.A.V.A Sudasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division.
Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), Mrs Dammika Hathurusinghe, Brigadier B.H.M.A Ajith Wijesinghe, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division Brigade Commanders under, 51 and 52 Divisions, Unit Commanding Officers and several other invitees including stars, Suresh Gamage and Shanaka Fernando and a few other artists attended the final show.
7 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) dancing team was adjudged the best team and received gifts and trophies from Major General M. Hathurusinghe. Mrs Dammika Hathurusinghe presented laurels to 52 Division dancing team, the second best group. Brigadier B.H.M.A Ajith Wijesinghe, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division gave away the trophies to the third place, the dancing team of 18 Gemunu Watch. Brigadier W.A.V.A Sudasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division gave away symbolic souvenirs to members of the board of judges.
