512 Brigade troops of the 52 Division under the Security Force HQ-Jaffna supported the conduct of the annual ‘Katina Pooja’ ceremony of the Sri Naga Viharaya in Jaffna on Saturday (7) and Sunday (8).
Held under the guidance of the Viharadhikari, Ven. Meegahajandure Siriwimala Thero, a colourful procession brought the ‘Katina Cheevaraya’ from the 512 Brigade Headquarters before observances got underway. The Dhamma sermon and the ‘Pooja’, followed by the alms-giving early in the morning and offering of Atapirikara to all Bhikkus marked the culmination of the Pinkama.
Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Senerath Bandara offered the ‘Cheevaraya’ to members of the Maha Sangha and joined rites and rituals, together with religious dignitaries, District Secretary for Jaffna Mr. K. Maheshan, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (North), General Officers Commanding of the 51 and 52 Divisions, Senior Deputy Inspector of General - North Province, Mr Sanjeewa Dharmarathna, Deputy Inspector General of the Police, 511 and 512 Brigade Commanders, Senior Superintendent of Police - Jaffna and Senior Officers, state officials and devotees.
