541 Infantry Brigade troops of the 54 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ-Wanni launched a programme to distribute school bags and accessories, each pack worth over Rs. 3000.00 for 26 students studying at R.C.T.M College in Kallayadi, and 25 students at R.C.T.M College, Nochchikulam, during a simple occasion on Monday (Jan 09), held at the Indoor Stadium, located at 10 (V) Sri Lanka Gemunu Watch (GW) camp.
This was made possible through the kind patronage, offered by People’s Bank, Welikanda, together with Mr D.S Felix, Mr Rumesh Ubayasiri, and Mr Michael Ubayasiri. Principal, tutorial staff and science section students at Galle Richmond College through the coordination of the 541 Infantry Brigade HQ.
The project was headed by Brigadier Dasantha Munasinghe. Commander, 541 Infantry Brigade in keeping with directions, given by Major General Nalinda Niyangoda, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 54 Infantry Division. It was jointly implemented by Major A.A.S Amarathunga, Commanding Officer, 12 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment and Major W.G.G.S Bandara, Commanding Officer, 10 (V) Gemunu Watch.
The GOC, 54 Infantry Division attended the distribution ceremony as the Chief Guest along with several Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, principals and tutorial staff.
