Troops of the 51 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on account of the forthcoming 72nd anniversary lunched several programmes on the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Major General Deepal Pussella on Monday (4).
Accordingly, planting of 100 saplings along the Jaffna Karainagar road was launched by 14 Gajaba Regiment troops of the 512 Brigade. 100 Karanda and Kubuk saplings were planted under this programme with the intention of promoting awareness about the environment and the importance of eco-friendly projects.
Meanwhile, 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops of the 513 Brigade donated coconut and jak plants among civilians in Chullipuram village during an arrangement, held at the Victoria College premises.
Similarly, 16 Gemunu Watch troops of the 513 Brigade contributed to the Army Day by serving lunch for elders living in Kalvalai Elders’ Day Care Center. During the programme, 50 elderly inmates received a sumptuous lunch and gift parcels containing essential needs.
Brigade Commanders of 512 and 513 Brigades, Commanding Officers and senior officers of respective areas were also present during the events by adhering to health formalities.
All these commemorative events were planned under the overall guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku.
