5 VIR Troops in 581 Brigade Restore Movement of Public Transport

5 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) of 581 Brigade under the 58 Division on Sunday (25) evening quickly responded and swiftly cleared the road between Gampola and Hemmathagama after torrential rains caused a landslide disrupting the passage of public transport services in the area.

Troops removed boulders, rocks and mounds of earth that had affected the road and restored normalcy within a short period.

Major General Vipula Ihalage, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division and Brigadier Nilanga Fernando, 581 Brigade Commander closely monitored the contribution of the troops.
