On the instructions of Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, General Officer Commanding 58 Division, together with the support of Colonel Nilanga Fernando, Commander 581 Brigade on Friday (11) gave away a stock of 80 dry ration packets to needy civilians in Kotmale area.
The programme got underlay under the close supervision of the Commanding Officer and troops of 5 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR). Each packet contained dry rations to the value of Rs 3000/= and beneficiaries were selected from Kothmale Nayapana, Kadadora and Dambagalla villages as per information given by the Grama Niladhari.
The project was meant to help people undergoing hardships due to loss of their sources of daily income and imposition of travel restrictions.
