A soldier of the 5 (V) Gajaba Regiment (GR) of the 623 Infantry Brigade under command to the 62 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-Wanni was quick to return a sum of Rs.70,400/= in cash, left behind in the ATM machine of the People's Bank at Horowpothana to the owner.
The soldier, Lance Corporal R.K.D.S Deerasinghe arrived at the bank and found some cash left behind in the ATM machine. The soldier in coordination with the bank staff within minutes traced the owner of the cash, one Mr Jaufar Mohomad Musafer in Horowpothana.
In consultation with Colonel Ranjith Boodagoda, Commander 623 Brigade and Major H.M.R.D.K Herath, Commanding Officer of 5 (V) GR and through the coordination of the Manager, People's Bank at Horowpothana, the cash was handed over to the owner after inviting him back to the Bank premises.
Mr. Jaufar Mohomad Musafer in return appreciated the soldier's exemplary act and thanked him for his honesty and considerateness towards others.
