The 5th Sri Lanka National Guard successfully completed Battalion Training which was conducted from 18 March to 10 May 2024 at the Infantry Battalion Training School at Galkulama.
Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander of the Security Forces - Wanni (SFHQ- Wanni) and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and emphasized the value of training in getting soldiers ready for their tasks during his closing remarks.
Major General H.H.K.S.S Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, General Officer Commanding 21 Infantry Division, and Senior Officers from SFHQ - Wanni and 21 Infantry Division attended the ceremony.
9 Officers and 443 Other Ranks participated in the training and following individuals were specially commended during the occasion:
Best Student: Captain D.J .K .S Deniyagedara
Best Shooter: Lance Corporal K.G.B Thissa Kumara
Best in Physical Training: Pte K.D.S Kumarasekara
Best Company: C - Company
Overall Percentage: 71.71%
