5 (V) Sri Lanka Woman’s Corps troops in keeping with the Presidential vision recently initiated a project to produce 160,000 kg of organic fertilizer on directives of the Commander Security Forces-East, Major General Channa Weerasuriya. The project started enthusiastically on 16 May 2021 with the participation of woman soldiers.
Troops using the waste and garbage in and around the camp premises, like decaying dried leaves, grass, kitchen wastes and other things kicked off the project after allocating a separate location inside their camp in SFHQ - East, Welikanda.
The project started on 16 May 2021 will be carried out under the close supervision of the Commanding Officer 5 (V) SLAWC, Major L Rathnapala of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
