The Search and Detection team of the 4th Combat Convoy Company (CCC) of the Sri Lankan Army in Mali under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) recovered a Victim Operated Improvised Explosive Device (VOIED), coupled with a 20 kg Jerry Can, filled with locally-produced explosives while a convoy operation from Tessalit to Gao was underway on Saturday (June 03) at about10.49 am (local time).
Troops of the Sri Lankan CCC in Mali are currently providing security for logistic convoys, fuel bowsers and cargo trucks, despite life-threatening risks, adverse weather conditions and inhospitable terrains.
Senior Officers praised the alertness of the Sri Lankan CCC and appreciated their life-threatening dedication while performing those duties.
