452 Army Karate Players Compete in Inter Regiment Karate Championship

The Army Inter Regiment Karate Championship tournament, enthuastically competed by 452 players of 18 Regiments in the Army concluded on Friday (Jan 13) at Panagoda Army Gymnasium in the presence of Major General Anil Ilangakoon, Chairman, Army Karate Committee and Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP).

Those competitors in the three day-long tournament during Jan 10 - 13 competed for the senior belt (black and brown), junior and novices events under the tournament. Brigadier Clifford De Zoysa, Commander Forward Maintenance Area -North was also present among the spectators in the finals and the awarding ceremony.

Competitors of the Sri Lanka National Guard clinched the Men’s Championship Trophy and secured 107 medals pushing the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment players to receive 80 medals as the first runner up. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police secured the Women’s Championship with 95 medals, pushing the Sri Lanka Signal Corps for the runner-up place with 60 medals.
