With the motive of assisting under privileged civilians in Aranayake area, 583 Brigade troops of the 58 Division organized a mobile eye clinic at Sri Sudharshanaramaya in Polambegoda on Thursday (25).
Supported by Mahanuwara Opticals (Pvt) Ltd, the eye surgeon, Dr Nimal Weerakon and his staff examined more than 500 civilians and distributed spectacles, worth about Rs. 281,700/= among the patients with visual impairments free of charge.
Troops of the 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) under the 583 Brigade coordinated the programme that began at 8.30 a.m. and went on till 6.00 p.m. The arrangements were supervised by Brigadier Randula Hathnagoda, Commander, 583 Brigade and Major General K.C Gunawardena, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West).
