4 GW Troops Install Drinking Water Facility for Needy Families

More than 125 low-income group families were among beneficiaries of a drinking water scheme, constructed by troops of 4 Gemunu Watch in the general area of Rajathureinagar Pullayar Kovil area in Batticaloa in view of their hardships for access to drinking water. It was commissioned and left for poor civilians on Friday (03) during a simple ceremony held at the location.

The simple inauguration saw civilians welcome the architects of the facility by garlanding them on arrival. After the traditional oil lamp was lit, the first pot of drinking water was collected by a civilian in a symbolic gesture. The project was made a success since the tank could hold a large quantity that could last for several days once filled.

Colonel Dulipa Bandara, Commander, 231 Brigade, Major K T M Dharmawardhana, Civil Affairs Coordinator, Major J A M P Gunarathna, Commanding Officer of 4 GW, Officers and Other Ranks of 4 GW and beneficiaries in the area attended the occasion by adhering to health guidelines.
