3(V) SLSR Troops at the Forefront Rescuing the Missing Pilgrim in Ramboda

3 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (3 (V) SLSR) troops of the 11 Division under the Security Force HQ - Central (SFHQ-Cen), together with Special Task Force (STF) and Police personnel succeeded in tracing a 33-year old man who had gone missing on Saturday (13) while staying at a hotel in Ramboda Nuwara Eliya area.

The youth Namal Sulochana Chathuranga after his return to Ramboda from a pilgrimage to Sri Paada on Saturday (13) was found missing from the hotel during early hours on Sunday (14), prompting his friends in the group to keep the Police informed of the incident.

Police immediately informed the 3(V) SLSR camp in close proximity and sought their assistance. Accordingly, a group of 37 Army personnel rushed to the location and began search operations on the directions of Major W.A.M Ranathilake, Commanding Officer, 3 (V) SLSR under the guidance of the Commander, 112 Brigade, Brigadier Anura Dissanayake and Commander, Security Forces – Central, Major General Ranjan Lamahewa together with other rescue teams.

Their efforts were proved effective after a few hours on Sunday (14) morning when they finally found the dehydrated victim lying near a location, surrounded by shrubs, close to the Ramboda waterfall. The victim was despatched to the hospital at Nuwara Eliya with the assistance of the Police. Kotmale Police are conducting investigations.

In the most recent past, Army troops were at the forefront of rescuing missing persons or recovering the remains of victims who had gone missing at different places in Madolsima and Badulla areas.
