Major General V.D.S. Perera assumed duties as the 31st General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 52 Infantry Division in a brief and formal ceremony held at the Division Headquarters on 11th January 2025.
Upon his arrival, the Senior Officer was warmly welcomed by the Staff Officers, followed by a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by the troops of the 52 Infantry Division.
In his new office, the GOC symbolically signed an official document to mark the commencement of his duties, following religious observances. He then posed for group photographs before planting a sapling on the premises as a symbolic gesture.
Later, the newly appointed GOC addressed All Ranks, sharing his vision for the division's future. The event concluded with an All-Ranks tea, attended by Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks.
