3 SLSC Inaugurates its Training Wing & Mess Facilities

In order to groom multi-skilled soldiers, capable of facing modern day challenges, the 3 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) Regiment erected a full-fledged training wing plus a new mess facility for Warrant Officers & Sergeants in their compound at Palaly and vested them in the troops during a simple ceremony on Friday (10).

The simple warming ceremony of both constructions was headed by Major General Asoka Peiris, Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signals Corps at the invitation of Lieutenant Colonel H.A.D.W Hettiarachchi, Commanding Officer, 3 SLSC.

The new training wing that has the seating capacity for 60 persons is equipped with most modern audio visual equipment and other facilities and is the biggest such auditorium available for troops in the peninsula, other than the one at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna.

Similarly, the new Mess building for 3 SLC Warrant Officers and Sergeants consists of spacious rooms, reception area and other facilities remained a long standing requirement at the location.

The day’s warming ceremony got to a start with the arrival of the Colonel Commandant as the Chief Guest to be honoured in a formal Guard Turnout at the main entrance after the 3 SLSC Commanding Officer warmly received Major General Ashoka Peiris, together with Brigadier G.S Fonseka, Regimental Centre Commandant.

At first, the day’s Chief Guest recalled the memories of fallen SLSC War Heroes by laying a floral wreath at the foot of the monument in the compound. Afterwards, the day’s Chief Guest was invited to unveil plaques and inaugurated both buildings by cutting symbolic ribbons.

He next planted a sapling and left memories of his visit to the place before he delivered the formal address to the troops their highlighting the importance of learning Cyber technology which has now been regarded as the 5th domain in the warfare except for sea, land, air and space.

The day’s ceremony was held in accordance with health protocols.
