Troops of 3 Gajaba Regiment (GR) serving the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), celebrated their 32nd anniversary on 12 January 2018 in accordance with military formalities, giving priority to religious observances and community projects.
The anniversary programme commenced after a ‘Bodhi Pooja’ ceremony at the Battalion premises. A series of sports events, cricket, football, volleyball, badminton tournaments, etc decorated the event before the anniversary day.
The anniversary day celebrations commenced with a Guard Turnout, presented by troops of the 3 GR to the Commanding Officer of the Battalion, followed by a group photograph and planting of a sapling by the Commanding Officer in the morning hours. An all rank lunch plus awarding of trophies and certificates for sports skills and an address by the Commanding Officer also took place after the main events. In parallel with this anniversary celebration, a musical show got underway for the troops in the Battalion playground as dusk fell.
Coincident with anniversary celebrations, troops distributed various economic plants among villagers in Mankulam in order to uplift their living standards.
Commanding Officer, all Officers and Other Ranks and members of the civil staff participated in anniversary formalities.
