2nd Phase of 'Healthy Army-Healthy Nation' Lectures Begin

The 2nd phase of the ‘Healthy Army-Healthy Nation’ project of the Colombo Army Hospital for medical instructors got underway on Wednesday (June 14) at 2 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) in Panagoda with the participation of a panel of medical experts.

Accordingly, awareness lectures by the Consultant Physiologist Brigadier (Dr) A.S.M Wijewardena USP on ‘Introduction of Non-Communicable Diseases and In Abstinence’, Consultant Psychiatrist Brigadier R.M.M Monaragala USP on ‘Stress, Addiction to Drugs and Cigarettes’, Brevet Colonel B.L Ranasinghe KSP on ‘The Importance of Diagnosis and Exercise in the Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases’, Warrant Officer I D.W Krishani, Staff Sergeant T.M.G Priyadarshana and Corporal L.H.E.K Karunarathna on ‘How to Check Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure and Weight According to Height Accurately’ were delivered respectively.

In addition, Lieutenant H.H.D.I.L Hettiarachchi conducted a session on ‘The Importance of Food and Nutrition’ and Major P.A.S.D Jothipala delivered a lecture on ‘Lifestyle Change, Communication and Health Promotion’.

The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General W.A.S.S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu gave the greenlight for re-commencement of the ‘Healthy Army-Healthy Nation’ project. 67 Medical Officers, Public Health Inspectors, Nurses and Medical Assistants serving in medical laboratories in the SFHQ-Central area participated in those sessions.
