2nd Phase of Field Firing of Armoured Vehicles Continued

The second phase (Phase 11) of the field firing training of Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFV) got underway at Sri Lanka Air Force field firing range in Kalpitiya during 7-8 October 2021.

It was done under the guidance of the Colonel Commandant, SLAC, closely supervised by the Commander Armoured Brigade, Brigadier Anil Peiris. A total of 16 Officers and 134 Other Ranks who followed courses from 2015 to 2019 took part in these sessions.

Troops who followed the Young Officers' course, Professional AFV Gunner Operator course and the Basic Gunner Operator course participated in the training programme. 2 x BMP MK II, 2 x BTR 80A and 2 x WMZ 551A AFVs were used for the firing.
