29th Death Anniversary of ‘Hasalaka Weeraya’ Commemorated at Elephant Pass

The 29th death anniversary of one of the frequently remembered War Heroes in contemporary times, late Corporal Gamini Kularatne of 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment who paid the supreme sacrifice on 13 July 1991 to prevent an enemy bulldozer ramming into the Elephant Pass garrison got underway on Monday (24) at Elephant Pass Gamini Kularatne memorial.

The commemoration ceremony was organized by the 662 Brigade under the direction of the General Officer Commanding, 66 Infantry Division, Major General Jayantha Kodithuwakku and the close supervision of the Commander, 662 Brigade, Brigadier Ruwan Pathiravithana. The Officers and Other Ranks of the 66 Infantry Division attended the event where floral wreaths were laid.

Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and ignited the eternal lamp near the statue and revered the heroic memory by placing a floral wreath at the foot. General Officer Commanding, 66 Division and Senior Officers followed suit and paid their respect by placing floral wreaths.

It was earlier scheduled to be held on 13 July 2020 but COVID-19 threat compelled its postponement until normalcy returned.Sports Shoes | Gifts for Runners
