241 &;amp; 211 Troops Donate Blood for Urgent Surgeries

Two blood donation campaigns organized by the troops of the 241 Brigade, serving under the Security Forces Headquarters –East (SFHQ – E) and troops of the 211 Brigade, serving under the Security Force Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ – W) were  held at  Maligatenna Temple and Base Hospital, Vavuniya respectively on Wednesday (5) and Friday(7).

Troops of the 241 Brigade serving under 24 Division of the SFHQ – E organized the blood donation programme at Maligatenna Temple on Wednesday (5) to fulfill blood requirement of the Teaching Hospital, Ampara.

160 Officers and soldiers donated their blood for use of the patients who are under treatment at the Teaching Hospital, Ampara.

Major General P.M.R Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 24 Division, 241 Brigade Commander and several other senior officers were present at the occasion.  

In the meantime, more than 103 soldiers donated their blood under the guidance of Brigadier D. T Gamage, 211 Brigade Commander on Friday (7), reacting to an emergency call (SoS) made by Blood Bank authorities at the Vavuniya Base Hospital following shortage of blood for patients expected to undergo surgeries.
