The Officers’ Training Day of the 24 Infantry Division in the First Quarter of the Year 2023 got underway on Saturday (8) on the directions and guidance of the General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division, Major General Wipula Chandrasiri at the 241 Infantry Brigade Conference Hall in Akkaraipattu.
During the Training Day project, officers serving in under command battalions after extensive researches presented timely important perspectives related to mulifaceted issues in the Ampara District.
The motive of undertaking this endeavor was mainly to identify economic, social, religious and other related issues that have been project to the military while performing duties in their respective areas and to suggest/ recommend viable solutions to overcome or mitigate those concerns and pressing issues.
Accordingly, 8 Sri Lanka National Guard was entrusted the task of finding the historical background of the Ampara District, 18 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment to screen potentials and challenges of the Tourism Industry, 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment to identify Social and Economic issues in the Ampara district, 11 Sri Lanka National Guard to find Challenges to ethnic, religious and cultural harmony and 16 Sri Lanka National Guard troops were to learn the present irrigation systems in the Ampara district.
The General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders of 241 and 242 Infantry Brigades, Staff Officers of the 24 Infantry Division and Brigades, Commanding Officers of under-command battalions and over 40 Officers were present at the Training Day project.
