24 Infantry Division Re-paints School Buildings & Provides a Facelift

The Ampara Wadinagala Vidyalaya received a complete facelift due to initiatives taken by the 24 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East at the request of school authorities.

Major General W. Chandrasiri RSP USp psc, General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division through well-wishers and philanthropists succeeded in collecting necessary paints and equipment to the value of Rs. 3.5 lakhs, required for the renovation and repairs of the entire building complex of the school.

14 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, 18 VIjayabahu Infantry Regiment, 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, 8, 11 and 16 Sri Lanka National Guard and Corps of Engineer Service Regiment troops within two days (4 - 5 November) completely repainted all the buildings and repaired the damages in the infrastructure of the school.

The remote school, attended by hundreds of children of low-income group families in this remote area remained completely disfigured and dilapidated when the principal made the request to the 24 Infantry Division seeking help.

Parents of the students and teachers also joined the troops for repairs and renovations during those two days.
