24 Infantry Division, under the leadership of Major General W.L.A.C Perera RWP RSP USP, proudly organized a donation programme aiming to support the under-resourced Amp/Galkanda Primary School.
This initiative was held on 28 October 2024, was made possible through the generous financial assistance of the Most Venerable Royal Pandithdigamadulle Wimalananda Thero and Sakya Youth Group Berwick, Melbourne, Australia. The programme saw the distribution of essential stationary items and musical instruments for the school band, significantly contributing to the educational resources available to the students. The Colonel General Staff SFHQ (West) and Professor Kaumadi Karunagoda, whose efforts ensured a seamless execution of the donation, meticulously coordinated the event.
In his opening remarks, the General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division emphasized the importance of education and how such contributions can make a profound difference in the lives of children in low-facility schools. He acknowledged the partnership with the Sakya Youth Group, expressing gratitude for their commitment to improving education in the region. The donation was met with enthusiasm from students and teachers alike, who are excited about the positive impact these resources will have on their learning experience and school’s extracurricular activities.
