24 Infantry Division HQ Educates Troops on Drug Prevention

The 24 Infantry Division HQ, as per directions of their General Officer Commanding, Brigadier Wipula Chandrasiri and the Commander, Security Forces-East, Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, conducted an awareness programme on ‘Prevention of Illicit Drugs in the Army’ on Wednesday (25) at the 24 Infantry Division Headquarters in Malwatta, Ampara.

The programme was conducted by the Sri Lanka Army Mental Health Unit, headed by Senior Consultant Psychiatrist Brigadier Roshan Monaragala who participated in the project as the Chief Guest together with a team of his staff.

The lecture provided knowledge to the troops of the Security Force-East regarding how to prevent themselves from the use of illicit substance and kinds of drugs being use by the general public. Moreover, troops were educated on the prevention of illicit drug usage in the Army and the repercussions of using drugs, narcotics, and illicit substances.

14 Officers and 160 Other Ranks representing the 24 Infantry Division and its Brigades participated in the programme.
