As part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, the 24 Infantry Division, under the guidance of Major General H.C.L Galappathti RSP USP, General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division, organised beach and temple cleaning programmes on 11th and 12th January 2025.
The beach cleaning programme took place at Akkaraipattu Beach Park and troops from the 241 Infantry Brigade and the 11th Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard (11 SLNG), civilians, Akkaraipattu Urban Council staff, and community organisations, extended their assistance to clean one kilometre of the coastline.
Additionally, a temple cleaning initiative was carried out at Sri Wijayarama Temple in Akkaraipattu, involving troops from the 241 Infantry Brigade and the 11 SLNG.
