24 Division Troops Offer Professional Skills for Construction of Aranthalawa Pilgrims’ Rest

Troops of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) and 16 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) of the 24 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E), following instructions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crisanthe De Silva offered their professional assistance for construction of the new Pilgrims’ Rest (Vishrama Shalawa) at sacred Aranthalawa temple.

The new Pilgrims’ Rest of 122 ft in length and 42 ft in width, dedicated to the memory of late Ven Hegoda Indrasara Nayake Thero who was assassinated by LTTE terrorists, along with a group of monks several years ago, was built under the patronage of Ven Kirindiwela Somarathana Nayake Thero, Incumbent at Aranthalawa Sri Indrasara Buddhist Centre.

HE the President Maithripala Sirisena during a visit to the Aranthalawa Sri Indrasara Buddhist Centre a few days ago ceremonially opened the new Pilgrims’ Rest at the invitation of the incumbent.

The construction project, supervised closely by Major General Mahinda Mudalige, General Officer Commanding, 24 Division, was brought to completion well on time with the support of Major General Nandana Senadeera, Commander, Security Forces - East.
