232 Infantry Brigade Troops Restore the Transport Facilities after Floods

Providing immediate humanitarian assistance to the flood-affected areas in Batticaloa district, 232 Infantry Brigade, and 12 Sri Lanka National Guard troops repaired damaged Kiran-Kudumbimale and Toppigala-Periyavadvan roads and restored the transport facilities on 26 December 2023.

The immediate disaster response was taken to replenish the damaged infrastructure in the area under the directions of Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc General Officer Commanding of 23 Infantry Division. Brigadier K.A Pushpa Kumara RWP RSP USP psc Commander, 232 Infantry Brigade closely supervised the initiative.

Swollen Maduru Oya and Valachchenai Aaru due to heavy rain, slammed the Kiran, Pulipanchikal, Wdumune, Kudimbimale, Toppigala and Periyavadwan roads with flood over 5-7 feet almost for two weeks affecting the residents in Koralepattu South Divisional Secretariat area.
