Troops of the 231 Infantry Brigade of the 23 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force HQ-East, located in Batticaloa donated 4 insect controller machines to the ‘Little Sisters of the Poor’ Elders’ Home on Sunday (4 June) with the sponsorship jointly provided by the philanthropist Mr. Nishanthan of United Kingdom and the ‘Singing Fish Lions Club’ in Batticaloa.
Brigadier W.M.N.K.D Bandara RWP RSP USP psc, Commander, 231 Infantry Brigade went to the Elders’ Home and donated those four equipment, each worth Rs 76,000/=.
Towards the end of the donation programme, those adults were entertained providing music and melodies of the Army Calypso band. 25 males and 25 females are residing at this Elders’ home.
Civil Affairs Officer 231 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer of 4 Gemunu Watch, Assistant Superintendent of Police - Batticaloa, Representative officials of Singing Fish Lions Club and 231 Infantry Brigade troops were also associated with the donation programme.
