Troops of the 4 Gemunu Watch (GW) under the guidance of the Commander, 231 Brigade, Brigadier W.M.N.K.D Bandara launched a programme to distribute 600 turmeric plants among 30 needy families in the general area of Thirayamadu, Batticaloa district on Tuesday (19).
The project was launched to assist civilians to raise their living standards through income generation by growing expensive turmeric plants in their own home gardens in Thirayamadu village.
The Civil Affairs Officer of the 231 Brigade, Officer In Charge of the ‘A’ Coy 4 GW and 4 GW troops joined the distribution.
