With sponsorship given by a private donor, 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops of the 242 Brigade, commanded by Brigadier Chandika Peiris under the supervision of Major A.P.G.D.S. Wijayathilake, Commanding Officer 23 SLSR organized a programme to distribute dry ration packs among 50 needy families in Panama and Pottuvil areas on Wednesday (22) considering economic hardships, being experienced by people due to COVID-19 epidemic.
The distribution of those dry ration packets, each worth about Rs 2550/= packets, sponsored by Mr Gemunu Perera, Chairperson, Bayvista Hotel at Arugam Bay took place covering Grama Niladari (GN) divisions in Panama and Pottuvil Grama Niladhari Divisions.
Major A.G.D Weeragoda, Second in Command (Overlook) in the Battalion and Other Ranks, adhering to health guidelines participated in the distribution after visiting each doorstep.
