The 23 Infantry Division HQ in Punani on 23 July marked its 26th anniversary with several commemorative events, being the major one held at the 23 Infantry Division HQ with military formalities.
In accordance with military traditions, 23 Infantry Division troops on the anniversary day (23 July) honoured their General Officer Commanding (GOC), Brigadier K.V.N.P Premarathne RSP USP psc in a Guard Turnout on his arrival in the camp premises. He also addressed the troops and highlighted the importance of an anniversary. An All Rank lunch brought the day’s ceremony to an end.
Earlier, on 21 July, a Bodhi Pooja Pinkama was held, attended by the GOC and All Ranks. Similarly, merits were transferred to all fallen War Heroes during the same programme.
Likewise, a distribution of school accessories took place for the benefit of poor students in Kirimichchodei G.T.M. school.
