Troops of the 23 Division under the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) organized an all night Pirith chanting followed by offer of alms to the monks next day on account of the Silver Jubilee (25th Anniversary) of the 23 Division on Wednesday (22) at the 23 Division Headquarters, Punani.
On Thursday (23) Major General D.D.U.K. Hettiarachchi, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 23 Division received the salute of Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour presented by 23 Division troops at the beginning of the day’s ceremony.
After planting a tree sapling at the 23 Division premises to mark its 25th anniversary GOC, 23 Division distributed 25 dry ration packs among low income families in the Punani area.
Finally, Major General D.D.U.K. Hettiarachchi, together with many officers and other ranks of the 23 division headquarters enjoyed an all rank lunch celebrating their anniversary.
