The 23 Division HQ under the Security Force HQ-East took the initiative in providing a much-required PCR machine for use at Batticaloa Teaching Hospital following coordination, made by the 231 Brigade HQ in Batticaloa, enabling the hospital to conduct at least 1000 tests per day.
Responding positively to the efforts launched by the Army to this effect, a group of entrepreneurs and businessmen in Batticaloa collectively shared the cost of the PCR Machine before it was finally taken to the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital.
Major General Nalin Koswatte, General Officer Commanding 23 Division and Brigadier Vijitha Hettiarachchi, Commander of 231 Brigade as those who initiated the project attended the formal handover of this new machine a few days ago.
