Troops at 23 Division celebrated its 26th anniversary with series of events during 20-23 July at Punnani on the directions of Major General, Darshana Hettiarachchi, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 23 Division.
The anniversary celebration commenced with a Blood Donation programme on Wednesday (20) at the Divisional Headquarters, Punani. More than 200 Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
An all night Pirith Chanting was conducted on Thursday (21) night followed by the “Heel Danaya” (Breakfast) the following day (22) morning.
Thereafter, a tree planting programme was launched on Friday (22) and 100 jack saplings were planted in the 23 Division camp premises.
On the same day, a newly constructed house was donated to a deserving family living at Kalkudah area. The financial assistance for the newly built house was given by Mr. Rod Thambiah in Australia.
A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour were accorded to the GOC, 23 Division on Saturday (23) at the Divisional parade grounds at Punnani as a military formality.
An All Ranks Lunch was also held to mark the Anniversary Day.
The celebrations of the 26th anniversary concluded with a grand musical show at the 23 Division premises same night.
