Environmentally-conscious 221 Brigade troops of the 22 Infantry Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) launched a coastal belt cleaning project on Thursday (20) in Manayaweli coastal area in Trincomalee which remained highly polluted due to heaps of discarded wrappers, empty beer cans and polythene waste.
General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division Major General Channa Weerasuriya initiated this programme in coordination with the Commander 221 Brigade, Brigadier Priyantha Kariyawasam.
