2 (V) Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops serving under the Security Force HQ - East (SFHQ-East) arranged one more distribution of some 3000 coconut saplings among 300 low-income families residing in Trincomalee and its suburbs after inviting the recipients to the 2 (V) GR camp premises on Monday (13 Nov).
The generosity of the Chilaw Plantations Pvt Ltd at the invitation of Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, Commander, Security Forces East (SF-East) through the coordination of Major General G.M.N Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division and Colonel A.K Peiris RSP, Commander, 221 Infantry Brigade enabled the launch of this productive project.
Beneficiaries were selected in consultation with respective Grama Seva officials after surveying their capacity and space for planting of those saplings.
General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Commanders of 221, 222 and 223 Infantry Brigades, Civil Affairs Officer of the 221 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officers of 20 GR and 2 (V) GR, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the occasion and distributed those saplings.
