The foundation stone-laid for the construction of three more new houses for needy families living in 221, 222 and 223 Infantry Brigades area in Trincomalee district on 28 and 29 January 2024 during a simple ceremony, amidst religious formalities.
The project was initiated under the conceptual layout of Commander, Security Forces - East (SF-E) with the aim to enhance the civil military cooperation. Financial sponsorship for all three houses was extended by the generous philanthropists through the coordination of Major General P.A.M Peiris RSP USP psc, the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division.
The cornerstone for the construction of the house for Mrs. Yashodara Lakmali Perera, a needy family resided at the No. 81/1, Gamini Dissanayake Road, Mahamayapura, Trincomalee was laid on 28 Jan 2024. Mr. Rohan Gunasekara extended much required financial sponsorship for the construction while troops of 2 (V) Gajaba Regiment of 221 Infantry Brigade extended their manpower and technical expertise for the project.
The foundation stone for the house erected for Mrs. Mallika Chandralatha, resided at the LB/07, Dehiwatta, Neelapola was held on 29 January 2024. Troops of 9 Vijayabahu infantry Regiment of 222 Infantry Brigade extended their manpower for the construction and Mr. Chinthika Abeyrathne extended the financial genericity for the project completion.
Meanwhile, troops of 15 Sri Lanka Light Infantry of 223 Infantry Brigade undertook the construction of the house for Mr. H.A.A.C Dinesh Kumara - an underprivileged family resided at the Tissapura, Mollipothana. The cornerstone was laid for the house on 29 January 2024 amid the religious formalities. Famous singer Mr. Bhathiya Jayakodi extended the much-needed financial generosity for the project.
The beneficiaries of the project were selected with the close collaboration of Gramaniladari of respective areas.
