Army troops serving the Security Forces Headquarters, East with the aim of providing entertainment and knowledge to internally displaced school children housed in temporary relief centres in Kiliweddi, Pattathidal, Manachchnawere and Santhoshapuram recently took them on an excursion.
The contingent of 150 students with parents and teachers during this one-day tour visited Mitsui Cement Factory, New Kinniya Bridge, Ashroff Jetty, Hot water springs and the Koneshwaram temple in Trincomalee. The project organized on the instructions of the SFHQ (E) Commander Major General S.A.L Perera was coordinated by General Officer Commanding 22 Division Brigadier D.D.U.K Hettiarachchi.
Students and the parents who participated in the tour highly appreciated the arrangements made by the Army which enabled them to visit many places of interest which they have never even thought of visiting. They requested the Army to organize more tours of this nature for the students.
