With the coordination of Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ - E), troops serving 22 & 23 Division and Task Force 3 organized a series of community projects in the previous two weeks.
2 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) under 222 Brigade of 22 Division conducted a Shramadana campaign with the objective of ridding garbage from the Venayur school surroundings in Mavaddichenai.
On the Same day, in coordination with Wildlife Department officers, 222 Brigade troops organized an awareness programme on ‘elephant threats’ for villagers in Valathottam at Valathottam Mixed School.
Meanwhile, troops serving 8 Battalion Gemunu Watch (GW) under 231 Brigade of 23 Division also conducted a Shramadana campaign with civilians to repair the road patch between Thumpalancholai - Unnachchiya on Wednesday (10).
Similarly, 632 Brigade troops under Task Force-3 organized a seminar for students sitting the Year 5 scholarship examination at Singhapura Sinhala School in Pothuvil with the assistance of ‘A Tomorrow for Youth’ foundation on Friday (5).
On Monday (8), 2 Battalion Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops under 221 Brigade of 22 Division gave away 20 scholarships for children of fallen and disable War Heroes with sponsorship of Mr Waruna Weerasinghe of Dubai. Among the recipients were several Tamil students in the area.
On the same day, a disabled War Hero and a disabled child of a serving soldier received financial aid for medical treatment with the assistance of the donor.
